Market prices

Denmark pays market prices for certified emission reductions. These prices will change over time, depending on market developments. Therefore, our prices are only valid for a limited period.

Denmark is willing to pay prices in line with the market,
depending on the project quality and other conditions offered.

These prices are subject to due diligence.

Prices depend on the type of project. For example, projects that require development of a new methodology are less certain to be registered as CDM projects than projects that can rely on existing approved methodologies, and hence will have a lower price. Projects with favorable local environmental and social impacts are more attractive, and will have a higher price. Projects that are technologically risky, or that are uncertain to be financed are also risky, and hence will have a lower price. We quote a price range, in part because the price depends on the type of project.

Contract conditions also have an impact on the price Denmark is willing to pay. For example, if the project owner can provide a credible and legally binding guarantee of the delivery of CERs will have a higher price than projects that cannot offer such guarantee. Contracts that offer Denmark the exclusive option to buy additional CERs over the contract amount will carry a higher price than contracts that do not offer Denmark such an option. We quote a price range, in part because contract terms matter a lot to the price Denmark can pay.
