Sustainability (Stakeholder consultation / WCD / GS)

A key issue affiliated to the climate change agenda, if not shaping it in the first place, is the promotion of sustainable development. Emissions reduction projects, based on the flexible mechanisms introduced through the Kyoto Protocol, are the ultimate result of the global political process that started at the "Earth Summit" in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, and before that with the concept of sustainable development as introduced in the Brundtland Report.

Caspervandertak Consulting attaches great importance to the sustainability of projects. The organization of on-site consultation meetings involving local communities is an integral part of our activities while projects seeking comments will be posted on the web to reach wider stakeholders panels.

In case a hydropower type project has to demonstrate compliance with the criteria set forth by the World Commission of Dams (WCD), CVDTC provides support to the project participants in the preparation fo the audit, including thorough review of the compensation process towards impacted local residents.

The CDM Gold Standard (GS) certification scheme is increasingly gaining ground as a parallel standard for emissions reduction projects, especially in the voluntary market, among investors who expect their projects to demonstrate additional sustainable development benefits. Caspervandertak Consulting offers complete Gold Standard development support and our track record comprises the successful registration of the second Gold Standard project located in the People’s Republic of China.
