Nationally Appropriate Mitigations Actions

A Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) is a new type of funding instrument under the UNFCCC voluntary GHG mitigation action implemented by a developing country for which international support may be received in the form of financing, technology, or capacity building. NAMAs are largely considered to be government interventions such as policies and programs that result in emission reductions relative to business-as-usual levels, but a NAMA can be a project as well. NAMAs can be of three main types: unilateral, supported, and creditable. To ensure transparency of both the emission reductions resulting from NAMAs and the financial and technical support for NAMAs, Parties agreed at the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) meeting in Cancun (2010) on the need for measurement, reporting and verification (MRV).

We offer a comprehensive set of services that follows the ‘3 Five Steps’ NAMA methodology developed by Caspervandertak Consulting, supported by our in-house database on low carbon technologies. More information is available on request.
