Bingling Hydropower Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project, the world's largest hydropower CDM project, has been launched in Northwest China's Gansu province.

Bingling Hydropower station has a total installed capacity of 240 megawatts and will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 760,000 tons per year.

It is the first hydropower station invested by Gansu Power Investment Bingling Hydropower Development Co., Ltd in Gansu's section of the Yellow River, It was kicked off in June 2005. In May 2008, the Certified Emission Reduction Purchase Agreement was signed with Enel, the National Power Company of Italy.

In February 2009, Bingling Hydropower CDM successfully finished registration in the Executive Council of CDM projects of the UN.
